KS 2 Kwik Cricket

kwik cricket children with Andrew Flintoff

This year, the School Sport Partnership has collaborated with the Sussex Cricket Development Team to organize all three of the Kwik Cricket tournaments now available to Years 5 and 6, and therefore provide a more coordinated approach. All three tournaments are already in existence, some for a number of years, but will, in some cases, take slightly varied form this year. Details of the individual tournaments are below. Please note that several of the dates are different to those originally sent out. This is due to changes made by the Cricket Development Officer in order to secure the County Ground for finals.

Year 5 Mixed (ASDA)

This tournament was initiated last year in order to give slightly younger children a chance to compete. This year we will be holding a Partnership event at Preston Nomads Cricket Club. While this is a partnership event, schools will compete in clusters for the group games, progressing onto finals and playoffs. This year, the winning team from Brighton and Hove will then progress onto a Sussex final, to be held at Blackstone Academy.

Teams consist of a maximum of ten players, with eight playing at one time. Teams must have an equal boy:girl ratio.

Year 6 Mixed (ASDA)

This tournament is sponsored at a local level by Davies and Tate, and at a national level by ASDA. Schools have the opportunity, as previously, to compete in a Brighton and Hove festival, a Sussex final, a regional final and a national final.

Last year, there was a maximum of 12 Brighton schools allowed to enter at the initial stage. This year, we would like to expand the opportunity to all schools and therefore will be holding a much larger partnership event.

Teams in this competition also consist of a maximum of 10 players, but have a minimum of just 1 player of each sex playing at all times.

Year 6 Girls (ASDA)

This tournament will take the form of a Brighton and Hove event. As previously in this competition, the winning team will have the opportunity to progress to a county final.

Teams in this competition, as above, will consist of a maximum of 10 players.
